Weight loss is not the only reason to exercise and eat right. Many diseases can be prevented by doing so. Cancer, diabetes, heart disease and the risk of many other diseases is greatly reduced by diet and exercise. Please don’t get confused when we say diet. I mean diet in the sense of what you eat. To diet just to lose weight is not healthy Studies have shown that young girls who diet are 18 times more likely to develop an eating disorder. Rapid weight loss is not our goal. We want everyone to live a healthy life. Today there are all sorts of crash diets and miracle pills that people swear by, and then you see all these people who go and get surgeries to look perfect. I ask you this – Are they really happy? You don’t have to go and do all these things to be happy. A simple combination of eating healthier and getting out and exercising can increase your physical and mental soundness. There are many ways to increase physical activity without changing your entire way of life. You don’t have to go to the gym or run 5 miles every day. Here are a few simples ways to increase daily activity.
Exercise is Fun!!!
- Ride your bike or walk instead of driving to places.
- Jog to school instead of taking the bus.
- Park at the far end of the parking lot.
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
- Get a pedometer and monitor how far you walk every day, then try to add a mile to that.
- Walk the long way to and from where you’re going.
- Play outside instead of watching TV, playing video games, or playing on the computer.
- For a fun day, go to the park and play ball, instead of going to the movies.
